How to delete your account
- Open the Stamp app on your iPhone or Android phone.
- Sign in if you are not already signed in.
- Tap the Profile tab in the bottom navigation bar.
- Tap the Settings icon in the top-right of the Profile screen.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Confirm the deletion. The action is permanent and cannot be undone.
The app immediately signs you out and removes your data from our live systems.
If you can't access the app
If you have lost your phone, cannot sign in, or the app will not open, email privacy@stamp.foundation from the email address registered to your Stamp account.
Include the message body: "I am the account holder for [your email address] and I request deletion of my Stamp account and associated data under UK GDPR Article 17."
We acknowledge requests within 48 hours and complete deletion within 30 days (UK GDPR default). In practice we usually complete it the same working day.
What we delete
When you delete your account, the following is permanently removed from our live database:
- Your profile, name, photo, biographical fields, birthday, and contact preferences.
- All posts you have created, including images and captions.
- All direct messages you have sent. Messages you sent to other people are removed from your account; copies on recipients' devices remain with them (the recipients own their copy of the conversation).
- All events you have created, including invites you sent.
- All comments, reactions, and "loves" you have added.
- All photos and attachments you uploaded.
- Your connection and inner-circle relationships.
- Your push-notification tokens and device identifiers.
- Your subscription record, if any. Active subscriptions are cancelled. We do not refund unused subscription time unless required by the App Store or Play Store policy.
- Your end-to-end encryption keys (used for 1:1 text messages and voice/video calls; group chats, voice notes and photo attachments are not yet end-to-end encrypted, see Privacy clause 10).
- Your support and data-export request history.
What we keep, and for how long
A small set of records is retained for legal and operational reasons:
| Category | Retention | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Encrypted database backups | 7 days | Backup rotation; full deletion at the end of the cycle. |
| Payment transaction record (anonymised, no profile attached) | 6 years | UK HMRC accounting record-keeping obligation (Companies Act 2006). |
| Aggregated, non-identifying usage statistics | Indefinite | Counts of total users, posts, messages. No reference to any individual. |
| Reports of unlawful activity by your account, if any | As required by law | Online Safety Act 2023 evidence retention, where lawfully required. |
No retained record can be used to reconstruct your account, identify you, or contact you.
Deleting some data without deleting your account
You do not have to delete your whole account to remove specific items:
- Posts: long-press any of your posts and choose Delete.
- Messages: long-press any message you sent and choose Delete.
- Events: open the event and choose Delete event.
- Profile fields: open Profile → Edit profile and clear any field.
- Connections: open the person's profile and choose Remove from circle.
You may also request a full copy of all data we hold about you, before or instead of deletion: Profile → Settings → Email me my data. We will email you a signed download link, valid for seven days.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to request erasure of your personal data (Article 17), to receive a copy of your data (Article 15), to correct inaccurate data (Article 16), and to restrict or object to certain processing (Articles 18 and 21).
If you are not satisfied with our handling of your request, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's independent data protection regulator.
