What it does

Real jobs, done for you on your own machine.

Documents in a language you don't read.

Translates a whole folder into plain English, or any language you like, right on your machine.

A 100-page contract and no time.

Summarises it in seconds and points to the exact page, so you can check it yourself.

Numbers scattered across notes and emails.

Pulls the figures together and builds you one clean spreadsheet.

An inbox you're behind on.

Drafts the reply in your own words and saves it as a new file. Your original is never touched.

Personal over time

The more of your files it can see, the more it knows about your world.

Inkwell isn't a stranger you re-introduce yourself to every time. Point it at the folders that matter, the documents, the emails, the notes, and tell it the things worth remembering, like "I run a florist" or "my main client is Northwind". The more of your world it can see, the more it has to work with, and the more personal its help becomes. Your files stay exactly where they are; Inkwell simply reads them in place when you ask.

It does this without sending a thing off your computer, and without changing the AI itself. Your files and your notes stay on your machine, read only when you ask. Nothing is uploaded to train a model somewhere. The intelligence is yours, and so is everything you point it at.

Private by design

Not a privacy promise. A design that cannot leak your files.

There is no cloud button to press by accident, because there is no cloud.

Everything stays on your computer

Every question, answer and edit happens on your machine. Once set up, it works with the internet switched off entirely.

No account, no login

No sign-up, no email, no password. Install it and start.

It does not phone home

No tracking, nothing reported back. The only things that ever leave are your licence check when you activate, and, if you choose a more powerful model, that one-time download. Your documents never leave your computer.

Originals always untouched

Inkwell works on your files in place. Every edit or new document is saved as a separate copy beside the original, never over it. Inkwell never overwrites or deletes, and every change can be undone.

Who it's for

For anyone with files to wrangle and a healthy dislike of subscriptions.

If you have files on a computer, Inkwell is for you. Individuals, families, students, tradespeople, any business or workplace. It is your own AI, on your own machine, with no monthly bill.

Individuals and families Students and researchers Tradespeople and the self-employed Small businesses and workplaces Anyone with files that are nobody else's business Tired of paying monthly for tools you own nothing of Works on your own computer, offline if you like Built for files that have to stay private

Because nothing ever leaves the device, it fits especially well where documents are confidential, for example accountants, solicitors, GP surgeries and clinics, estate and letting agents, surveyors, recruiters, consultants, researchers and journalists. But you do not need a job title to want this. It is for anyone tired of paying £20 a month, forever, for software they will never own.

A third to charity

Profit, shared.

A third of our profit funds UK charities. Once we have covered our costs, a third of what is left goes to UK-registered charities, distributed annually. The ones we have selected are Cancer Research UK, Surfers Against Sewage and the RSPB. This is our donation, not their endorsement, and the list may change over time. We are a UK company, and our accounts are filed publicly at Companies House every year, so we are accountable on the public record, not just on our word.

Questions

The honest answers

How does it handle confidential client data?

Your files never leave your computer, so there is nothing to upload and nothing for us to receive. Inkwell brings its own AI that runs entirely on your machine, with no cloud and no server in the middle. Because we never receive, store or process your documents, your client files, patient records, case files and accounts stay on your own device, under your control. Here is the simplest proof: switch the internet off once Inkwell is set up and it carries on working. How that fits your own data-protection obligations is for you to judge, as it would be with any software you run on your own computer.

Can everyone in my office have a copy?

Yes. One licence is one person, usable on two of their own computers. To kit out a team, buy several licences in one go using the "How many licences?" selector on the buy panel above, or adjust the number at the secure Stripe checkout. Each person gets their own key. No per-seat subscription, no annual renewal, just £99 for each licence, once.

Do I need IT or any setup?

No. Inkwell installs like any ordinary app and works the moment you open it. No server to set up, no account, nothing to configure. Point it at a folder of your files and start asking. It is built to be simple enough that nobody in the office needs to call anyone for help.

Will I get updates for free?

Yes. Updates are included at no extra cost, including smarter on-device models as they become available. You buy Inkwell once and it keeps getting better, with no subscription and nothing more to pay.

Can I reset Inkwell at any time?

Yes. You can clear everything Inkwell has learned and start completely fresh whenever you like, from its settings. A reset wipes its memory and the list of documents you have shown it. Your real files are never touched, so nothing of your own is lost, only Inkwell's working memory of it.

How much memory (RAM) does my computer need?

Inkwell runs well on a typical computer from the last few years. 8GB of memory is plenty. On more modest or older computers, Inkwell automatically runs a lighter, faster model instead, so it still works without you needing a new machine. It right-sizes itself to your computer, and more memory than 8GB simply makes it quicker, not different. Everything runs on your own machine.

Which computers does Inkwell run on?

Inkwell runs on Apple Silicon Macs (M1 or newer) and on Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). On the Mac you download a .dmg, on Windows a .exe, and one licence key works on both. Intel Macs are not supported for now. If you are unsure which Mac you have, click the Apple menu, choose About This Mac, and look for an Apple M chip.

What file types can it read, and can it edit them?

It reads PDFs, Word (.docx, .doc), Excel (.xlsx, .xls), PowerPoint (.pptx), OpenDocument files (.odt, .ods, .odp), plain text (.txt), CSV (.csv), Markdown (.md), RTF (.rtf), web pages (.html) and saved emails (.eml and .msg). It also creates Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations and PDFs from scratch, all on your own machine. It edits Word, Excel, PowerPoint, text and Markdown files. It always shows you what it plans to change first, and every edit or new document is saved as a separate copy, clearly marked "(Inkwell)", right beside the original in the same folder. The file you started with is never overwritten. PDFs are created, not edited.

What if I get a new laptop?

Your licence works on two of your own computers at a time. If you replace a machine, you deactivate Inkwell on the old one and activate it on the new one, all with the same key. Moving to a new laptop costs nothing and needs no new purchase.

Where does my money go?

A third of our profit, after we cover costs, goes to UK-registered charities, distributed annually. It is the same promise that powers our Stamp app. Buying Inkwell gets you a tool you own outright and funds something good at the same time. We are a UK company, and our accounts are filed publicly at Companies House every year, so we are accountable on the public record, not just on our word.
